Security forces have uncovered secret tunnels dug by the Khawarij inside residential houses in Bajaur, which were being used to stockpile arms and serve as hideouts for planning attacks against the state and its people.
The discovery was made during recent operations in which large caches of weapons and ammunition were also recovered. These findings have since been presented before the public as concrete evidence of the Khawarij’s subversive activities.
Officials said the Khawarij deliberately concealed themselves in civilian neighbourhoods, using houses as cover to orchestrate attacks. Despite such undeniable proof, certain elements continue to accuse security forces of targeting civilian populations allegations officials described as either ignorance of ground realities or deliberate distortion.
“The Khawarij’s practice of using civilians and their homes as human shields is an act of extreme cowardice and stands utterly condemned,” officials emphasised. They added that the exposure of these tunnels once again demonstrates how the Khawarij endanger innocent lives to advance their destructive agenda.
The security forces reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the people of Bajaur and across Pakistan, stressing that operations will continue with full resolve until the networks of the Khawarij are dismantled.
