Khawarij gunmen targeted a peace committee comprising police personnel and local volunteers in the Alakhel Sardikhel area of Bannu district, resulting in the death of a young man and injuries to several others.
Local sources confirmed that the deceased was identified as Murtaza Khan. Those injured in the attack included schoolteacher Naqeeb Ahmad, Rahim, and Mir Zaman. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where they are under medical treatment.
This is the second such incident in recent days in the same area. Earlier, Khawarij had brutally murdered a civilian merely for refusing to provide food, raising serious concerns over the deteriorating security situation and the growing threat posed by these extremist elements to local peace and stability.
