In yet another brazen act of Khawarij violence, unidentified gunmen affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Hafiz Gul Bahadur faction shot and killed a local resident, Noor Zaman, in the Bakka Khel area of Bannu and dumped his body near Junai Market in Deewgan Khel.
The gruesome killing sent shockwaves through the community. According to police, locals discovered the body and immediately alerted authorities. Law enforcement rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and began collecting forensic evidence to trace the perpetrators.
The Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, a notorious faction of the Khawarij TTP, claimed responsibility for the targeted assassination. The same faction has been involved in a string of violent attacks across South Waziristan and Bannu, operating with impunity and undermining regional security.
Just days earlier, a bomb was detonated at an under-construction Government Girls Primary School in the same area — another reminder of the Khawarij network’s relentless campaign of terror.
The rising frequency of such attacks underscores an alarming resurgence of Khawarij elements in the region, as security forces face mounting pressure to eliminate these threats and restore peace in the tribal belt.
