In yet another act of sabotage, Khawarij targeted and blew up an abandoned police checkpost in the Khroba area of Lakki Marwat, partially damaging the structure, police officials said. The powerful explosion occurred when explosives planted at the site ripped through the old Khroba checkpost, sending shockwaves through the vicinity. Though no casualties were reported, the blast inflicted visible structural damage.
Police stated that the checkpost had been lying abandoned and non-operational for the past six years, having been declared unfit for use long ago.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a search operation in the area, terming the incident part of a broader campaign by Khawarij elements to instill fear and disrupt security in southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials noted that such attacks reflect the desperation of these groups, who continue to target deserted or symbolic sites in a bid to project relevance.
