A joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and District Police thwarted an attempted escape by Khawarij involved in the recent martyrdom of police personnel, resulting in the killing of one assailant and injuries to two others.
The encounter occurred when the militants, encircled during a security operation, tried to break the cordon. Police responded with effective firepower, neutralizing one attacker on the spot. Two others were wounded and are believed to have fled with gunshot injuries.
A Kalashnikov rifle along with ammunition was recovered from the dead Khawarij operative, pointing to their continued intent to carry out further violence.
The CTD and District Police have launched an extensive search operation in the area to locate the injured fugitives and dismantle any remaining support infrastructure. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to pursue all those involved in the attack and ensure they face the full force of the law.
