In a cowardly act of sabotage, the Khawarij attempted to destroy a strategically important link bridge in the Miryan area of Bannu, causing partial damage to the structure. The targeted bridge, located near Amir Ghafor Korona in the Norar locality, served as a vital connection between Jani Khel and Bannu city. It has been frequently used by law enforcement and intelligence agencies for operational movement in the region.
According to security sources, the Khawarij planted explosives to sever this key route and disrupt the mobility of security forces. Although the bridge sustained partial damage, the attempt to fully demolish it was unsuccessful. Swift deployment of bomb disposal and security teams helped secure the area and prevent further harm.
“This was a calculated attempt by the Khawarij to hinder state operations and spread fear among the local population. Their failure reflects the unwavering vigilance and preparedness of our security forces,” a senior official said on condition of anonymity.
Following the incident, law enforcement agencies launched a search and clearance operation in the surrounding areas to apprehend those involved. Surveillance measures have also been intensified along sensitive routes.
Authorities have vowed that such subversive acts will not be tolerated and reaffirmed their commitment to eliminate the Khawarij menace. Immediate assessments are underway to repair the damaged portion of the bridge and restore full connectivity.
