Khawarij Attacks Repulsed in Bannu and Karak; Three Killed, Four Injured

Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa thwarted coordinated assaults by Khawarij in Bannu and Karak, killing three and injuring four, while sustaining only minor injuries to four personnel, officials confirmed.

In Bannu, the Khawarij first attempted to storm the Miryan Police Station, but the attack was brought under control within 20 minutes through a swift and determined response. Shortly afterwards, dozens of heavily armed assailants launched a fierce strike on the Mazang check-post, triggering intense gunfire that lasted nearly an hour.

Regional Police Officer Bannu, Sajjad Khan, said the counteraction left three Khawarij dead and four wounded, though their comrades managed to evacuate the casualties. “Our personnel fought with exceptional bravery and tactical precision, forcing the attackers to flee,” he stated. Four policemen — Javed, Irfan, Iqbal, and Moheb — received minor injuries during the clashes.

Meanwhile, in Karak’s Gurguri area, another group of Khawarij tried to target the local police station. District Police Officer confirmed that the attackers were pushed back before they could approach the building. “The timely and effective response of the force not only safeguarded the station but also prevented any major loss,” he said.

Security officials noted that the back-to-back attacks underscored the Khawarij’s intent to destabilize the region but praised the resilience of frontline police units in foiling their plans.
