A police constable was martyred when Khawarij launched a brazen attack on a police checkpost in the Ghandi Tal area of Upper Orakzai, triggering a fierce exchange of fire.
District Police Officer (DPO) Shaukat Ali confirmed that the attackers opened indiscriminate fire on the checkpost, during which Constable Tajdar Ali embraced martyrdom while defending his post with valour.
Following the assault, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the site and cordoned off the area. A large-scale search operation was launched to hunt down the perpetrators and ensure the safety of the surrounding communities.
The body of the martyred officer was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
Police officials and local residents have condemned the attack, paying tribute to the fallen constable for his courage and sacrifice. Security across the district has been tightened, with additional forces deployed to prevent any further acts of sabotage.
Officials reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate the menace of Khawarij and bring those responsible to justice, stating that such cowardly acts would not deter the law enforcement agencies from performing their duty.
