In a shocking escalation of violence targeting education, Khawarij have destroyed a second school in Bannu within 24 hours, underscoring a disturbing pattern of assaults on educational institutions in the region.
According to local authorities, the Government Girls Primary School in Bukakhel, Matiullah was destroyed using explosive materials, causing extensive damage to the infrastructure and halting academic activities. This attack comes a day after Khawarij targeted the Government School Noor in Ghoda Bukakhel, which was similarly devastated.
Officials report that, since the beginning of this year, a total of five educational institutions in Bannu have been deliberately targeted by Khawarij, highlighting a worrying trend aimed at disrupting education and instilling fear among communities.
The repeated targeting of schools in Bannu not only threatens the educational environment but also poses a serious risk to the safety of students, teachers, and local communities. Authorities have vowed to increase security measures in and around schools to prevent further attacks and ensure the continuity of education in the region.
The international community, along with national agencies, is being urged to support measures to safeguard educational institutions and uphold the right to safe learning environments for children across conflict-affected areas.
