Federal Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has categorically rejected attempts to draw parallels between Pakistan’s lawful counterterrorism operations against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorist camps along the Afghanistan–Pakistan border and India’s illegal attacks on mosques and seminaries in Bahawalpur and Muridke, calling such comparisons “entirely false, misleading, and unacceptable.”
In a clear and forceful statement, Khawaja Asif emphasized that Pakistan’s actions are targeted, intelligence-based counterterrorism operations conducted against verified terrorist camps operated by TTP-affiliated Khawarij elements. These operations, he said, are undertaken strictly in self-defense and in accordance with international law to protect Pakistani citizens from cross-border terrorism.
“The international community, including the United Nations, is itself deeply concerned about the growing threat of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan under the shadow of the Afghan Taliban,” Khawaja Asif stated. “The daily infiltration of terrorist networks and militants into Pakistan from Afghan territory is irrefutable evidence of this threat.”
He noted that Pakistan has repeatedly shared concerns with international partners regarding the presence of organized terrorist formations across the border, stressing that Pakistan’s restraint should not be mistaken for inaction when national security is at stake.
Addressing Indian claims related to the Pahalgam incident, Khawaja Asif pointed out that India has failed to present any credible evidence to date. In contrast, Pakistan not only rejected baseless accusations but also formally offered neutral and independent investigations, demonstrating transparency and confidence in its position.
Referring to a United Nations report, the minister said that international assessments have made it clear that India’s aggression was unlawful and unsupported by evidence, while Pakistan’s response was legitimate, proportionate, and fully justified under international norms.
Khawaja Asif further stated that Pakistan has consistently exposed the role of India-backed proxy Khawarij elements and their sympathizers, adding that any remaining doubts regarding their involvement were addressed previously and continue to be clarified today.
“By the grace of Almighty Allah, Pakistan has dismantled false narratives before, and it will continue to do so,” he concluded, reaffirming Pakistan’s resolve to defend its sovereignty, counter terrorism in all its forms, and uphold international law.
