Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Dattakhel area of North Waziristan and eliminated a Khariji who was attempting to plant an improvised explosive device (IED), officials said on Wednesday. During the operation, the Khariji operative was intercepted before he could carry out his sabotage attempt. A cache of weapons and explosive material was also recovered from the scene, thwarting a potential attack that could have endangered innocent lives in the region.
Officials said the operation is part of the continuing campaign to root out Kharijites from North Waziristan and other areas affected by militancy. They added that such individuals, while seeking to destabilize the region through violence and subversion, have been consistently targeted in precise actions aimed at ensuring the safety and stability of local communities.
North Waziristan has remained a focal point of counterinsurgency operations over the past decade, as security forces intensify efforts to prevent cross-border movement of militants and dismantle their networks. The latest action, they said, reaffirms the resolve to deny Kharijites any space to operate or regroup.
The operation concluded with an assurance that intelligence-based actions would continue across the tribal districts until the complete elimination of Kharijites and the restoration of lasting peace in the area.
