Jordan Foils Major Terror Plot, 16 Arrested in Pre-Planned Missile and Drone Attack Scheme

AMMAN – Jordanian authorities have thwarted a major terrorist plot, arresting 16 suspects involved in planning a large-scale attack within the country, according to a statement released by Jordan’s General Intelligence Directorate.

The intelligence agency revealed that the suspects had been preparing the plot since 2021, during which they manufactured dangerous missiles, bombs, and weapons using imported materials. Security forces also recovered ready-to-launch missiles from the detainees.

The group had also planned to use drones to carry out attacks and had reportedly recruited foreign fighters to assist in the execution of their plans.

All suspects are currently in custody and will be tried in Jordan’s State Security Court.

According to Arab media, initial investigations suggest the motive was internal, and the plot was not connected to regional conflicts such as those in Palestine or Syria.
