A joint operation by police, the Counter Terrorism Department, and security forces in the Domel area of Bannu district, Khyber pakhtunkhwa, has resulted in the killing of five terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), while seven others were injured, officials said on Thursday.

According to sources, the operation was carried out in the Akbar Kallay Asparkha locality of Domel following intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. The joint teams engaged the suspects, leading to a prolonged exchange that ended with multiple casualties among the terrorists.

Sources confirmed that those killed included a key commander of the group, described as being involved in planning and facilitating attacks in the Bannu region and its surroundings. Efforts are underway to verify the identities of the remaining casualties and assess their links to past incidents.

No losses were reported among police, CTD, or security personnel during the operation, officials said.

Authorities stated that actions against the Khwarij network would continue and that there would be no space for terrorists or their facilitators in the Bannu region. They reiterated that ensuring the safety of civilians and restoring stability in the area remain a priority.

The Domel operation is being viewed as a significant setback for militant activity in the region, particularly at a time when efforts are underway to prevent regrouping and movement of banned outfits across district boundaries.
