In a significant move to strengthen security in South Waziristan, a jirga (tribal council) was held in the Shaktoi area between local elders and security forces, focusing on the rising threat of terrorism and strategies to maintain peace in the region.

During the meeting, the wing commander leading the forces urged local residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and refrain from providing any form of support, shelter, or facilitation to terrorist elements.

He issued a strong warning that if militants attempt to use civilians as human shields in future operations, the responsibility for any resulting casualties or damage will not lie with the security forces.

The commander emphasized that terrorist groups are not only enemies of the state but also of the peace, livelihood, and future of the local population. He stressed that only through joint efforts between residents and the armed forces can the threat be eliminated.

In response, tribal elders assured full cooperation with the Frontier Corps (FC), promising to report any suspicious activity or presence of militants immediately, in order to safeguard peace and stability in the area.

This engagement reflects a broader strategy where community partnerships are being strengthened to combat terrorism in Pakistan’s tribal belt, a region historically vulnerable to insurgent influence.
