Thirteen khwarij belonging to the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij were killed during two separate intelligence-based operations conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 13 and 14, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, ISPR said that the first operation was carried out in Bannu district after credible intelligence regarding the presence of khwarij in the area. Security forces effectively engaged the identified location, and following an intense exchange of fire, eight khwarij were killed.
ISPR said that a second intelligence-based operation was conducted in Kurram district, where security forces once again engaged the militants after confirming their presence. During the ensuing firefight, five khwarij were successfully neutralized.
The military’s media wing said that sanitization operations are currently underway in both areas to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored khwarij and to prevent the regrouping of militant elements.
ISPR emphasized that these operations form part of the ongoing, relentless counterterrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” as approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. The campaign is being executed jointly by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies.
The statement reaffirmed that security forces remain fully committed to eradicating the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country and will continue operations at full pace to ensure lasting peace and stability.
ISPR added that the successful conduct of these operations reflects improved intelligence coordination, sustained pressure on militant networks, and the state’s resolve to deny space to terrorist groups operating on behalf of hostile external actors.
