A deadly blast ripped through a Balochistan National Party (BNP) rally in Quetta, leaving 13 people martyred and 31 others injured. Authorities suspect the attack was carried out by the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISIS-K), which had earlier vowed retaliation against Baloch nationalists after its fighters were killed in a March 2025 raid on camps in Mastung.
The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Quetta’s Accident and Trauma Center, where emergency teams led by Dr. Arbab Kamran (MD Trauma Center) and Dr. Hadi Kakar (MS Civil Hospital) provided emergency treatment before transferring patients for further care.
Among the injured were Nadir, Muhammad Sadiq, Siraj Ahmed, Naseebullah, Basheer, Ali Akbar, Muhammad Ishaq, Ahmad Nawaz, Shah Faisal, Farhan, Muhammad Murad, Irfan, Root Parvez, Madad Khan, Shabbir Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, Farooq, Ejaz, Mir Baz Khan, Moosa, Abdul Latif, Kashif, Bismillah, Baseer, Nawab, Kaleemullah, Rasool Bakhsh, Zamran, Muhammad Yousaf, and Samiullah.
Those who lost their lives in the tragic attack included Ishaq, Najeebullah son of Muhammad Hanif, Shan, Hanif, Madad Khan, Waqar, Hafeez, Abdul Nabi, Nasrullah, Allah Bakhsh, Najeeb son of Asadullah, another victim named Allah Bakhsh, and another Waqar.
This marks the second attempt on BNP chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal’s life within six months, raising concerns of escalating violence in Balochistan. Security agencies have launched a full investigation to confirm ISIS-K’s role in the coordinated blast.
