Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar departed for Kabul on Friday to hold crucial talks on regional security, peace, and bilateral cooperation with the Afghan leadership.
He is accompanied by a high-level delegation for the official visit.
Speaking to the media at Nur Khan Airbase prior to departure, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan shares fraternal relations with Afghanistan and emphasized the need for both neighboring countries to work together. “Afghanistan is our neighbor and brotherly country. We will strive to collaborate for mutual benefit,” he remarked.
The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged that relations between the two countries had seen a period of strain in recent times. “There has been some coldness in ties lately, but the Prime Minister and the entire leadership have resolved to re-engage with Afghanistan through dialogue,” he said.
During the visit, Dar is scheduled to meet with Afghanistan’s Acting Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. He will also lead the Pakistani side in delegation-level talks with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The discussions will cover a wide range of issues, including security, trade, regional connectivity, and people-to-people contacts.
