In a significant diplomatic development aimed at de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India following the Pulwama incident, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on an official visit.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Iranian envoy was received at Islamabad International Airport by senior officials of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan.
The visit comes as part of Iran’s intensified diplomatic efforts to ease rising tensions in the region. During his stay, Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to meet with the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan. The meetings will focus on strengthening bilateral relations and exchanging views on key regional and international issues.
Following his visit to Pakistan, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister is expected to travel to India later this week as part of Tehran’s balanced outreach to both nations.
Iranian officials have stated that the purpose of Araghchi’s visits to Islamabad and New Delhi is to help reduce tensions that have escalated in the wake of the Pulwama attack. Iran has also formally offered to mediate between Pakistan and India to help resolve the crisis through peaceful dialogue.
The Iranian initiative has been welcomed as a timely and constructive step amid growing calls for restraint and diplomacy in the region.
