The Iranian Red Crescent Society has reported extensive damage to civilian infrastructure in Iran as a result of recent attacks by the United States and Israel. According to Pir Hossein Kolivand, President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, the assaults have affected a total of 3,643 civilian sites, including 3,090 homes, leaving thousands of residents displaced or affected.
In addition to residential damage, the attacks also targeted 528 commercial and service centres, 14 medical or pharmaceutical facilities, and nine Red Crescent facilities, further compounding the humanitarian impact. Kolivand emphasized that most of the affected locations were situated in densely populated residential areas, raising serious concerns about the safety of civilians and access to essential services.
The Iranian Red Crescent has been actively engaged in assessing the damage, providing relief assistance, and supporting affected communities. Kolivand highlighted the urgent need for humanitarian aid and underscored the importance of international attention and intervention to assist civilians affected by the attacks.
The organization continues to coordinate with local authorities to provide emergency relief, shelter, and medical assistance to those impacted. The Red Crescent reiterated its call for the protection of civilian infrastructure and adherence to international humanitarian law, emphasizing that attacks on residential and essential service areas exacerbate the suffering of non-combatants.
