Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has been declared safe after reports surfaced suggesting he sustained minor injuries during a recent Israeli strike, as tensions between Iran and Israel continued to escalate.
According to Iranian military authorities, the country launched a series of drone attacks early Wednesday targeting what it described as key Israeli military and intelligence facilities.
In a statement, the Iranian military said its attack drones struck several strategic locations, including the headquarters of Israel’s military intelligence directorate AMAN, the signals intelligence unit Unit 8200, and the submarine headquarters building located at the naval base in Haifa.
The statement also claimed that Iranian drones targeted Israel’s Green Pine Radar, a critical component of Israel’s missile defense network designed to detect and track incoming ballistic missiles.
Iranian officials said damage to the radar system could significantly weaken Israel’s ability to intercept future missile attacks. However, Israeli authorities have not confirmed the extent of any damage.
Amid the escalating military exchange, an Israeli official claimed that intelligence reports suggested Iran’s newly selected Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei may have sustained minor injuries during a recent Israeli strike.
According to the reports, Mojtaba Khamenei allegedly suffered slight wounds to his legs during the attack.
Iranian authorities quickly moved to dismiss the reports. Government adviser Yousef Pezeshkian said sources had confirmed that Mojtaba Khamenei was completely safe and unharmed.
Iran’s state television also addressed the reports, describing Mojtaba Khamenei as a “wounded fighter of the Ramadan war,” a phrase often used in Iranian state media to portray resilience during periods of confrontation.
The developments come at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with both sides exchanging accusations and military signals amid fears that the confrontation could expand into a broader regional conflict.
