In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iran launched its largest-ever missile barrage against Israel in the early hours of Monday, following a full day of Israeli attacks on Tehran. Iranian ballistic missiles rained down on multiple Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and occupied Jerusalem, with powerful explosions heard across these areas. The strikes triggered widespread panic, led to the shutdown of power infrastructure, and caused multiple casualties.
According to initial reports, at least three Israelis were killed and more than 100 others injured as a result of the latest Iranian missile strikes. One of the missiles hit a major power plant in Haifa, igniting a large blaze. Sirens blared throughout Israeli cities as air defense systems struggled and reportedly failed once again—to intercept the incoming projectiles.
The Iranian attack, described by Israeli media as the most intense assault ever launched by the Islamic Republic on Israeli territory, came just before dawn. Around 100 ballistic missiles were reportedly fired, targeting key urban centers. The cities of Tel Aviv, Haifa, and occupied Jerusalem bore the brunt of the barrage.
Israel’s emergency services confirmed that much of central Israel experienced widespread power outages due to the missile impacts. Several targets in Tel Aviv were directly hit, resulting in both infrastructure damage and civilian injuries. Authorities have ordered residents to remain in shelters until further notice. The newspaper Haaretz reported that the renewed Iranian strikes caused additional casualties in Haifa and Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, parts of northern Israel also suffered damage.
According to CNN, the death toll from Iranian missile attacks over the past two days has now reached 17 Israelis, while Iranian officials stated that Israeli airstrikes on Iranian cities have killed at least 224 Iranian citizens and injured more than 1,277 others. Simultaneously, Israel continued its retaliatory missile strikes across Iran, targeting major cities including Tehran, Mashhad, and Isfahan. Notably, Israeli missiles also reportedly struck the Fordow nuclear facility. Iranian media claimed that over 90 percent of those killed in Israeli strikes were civilians, including infants injured in the capital city of Tehran.
In a statement released via video, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister confirmed that Israel had deliberately targeted the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs building. Several civilians were wounded, and windows in the ministry’s library were completely destroyed.
Earlier overnight, sirens had already been activated across Tel Aviv, Haifa, and other urban centers as Iranian missiles approached. Israeli authorities ordered citizens to move to shelters and not to emerge until further instruction. As the situation continues to deteriorate rapidly, Israel has shut down all its airports and completely closed its airspace.
