Security forces are engaged in an intense exchange of fire with terrorists belonging to Fitna al-Khwarij during an intelligence-based operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district, where multiple terrorists have reportedly been eliminated and several others wounded, according to security sources.

Sources said the operation was launched after security agencies received credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the Torgat area of Salarzai tehsil. Acting on the information, security forces swiftly moved into the area, established a cordon around the suspected hideout, and began a clearance operation.

As the security personnel tightened the encirclement, the terrorists detected their presence and opened fire, triggering a heavy gun battle that continues at the time of reporting.

According to sources, the terrorists have suffered significant casualties during the ongoing engagement. Multiple terrorists have reportedly been eliminated, while several others sustained injuries. The surviving terrorists are said to be attempting to flee the area, but security forces are gradually tightening the cordon to prevent any escape.

The operation remains in progress, and additional details regarding the final casualty figures and the outcome of the operation are expected once the area has been fully cleared. Officials have indicated that the objective of the intelligence-based operation is to eliminate the terrorist presence and ensure complete security of the area.
