Al Malahem Media, the propaganda wing of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), has published Issue 12 of its magazine Inspire Guide, part of the “Open Source Jihad” series, titled Tonight, the Bullets Speak. The magazine seeks to incite violence, spread extremist ideology, and provide operational instructions for attacks, posing a direct threat to global security.
The opening pages reference a shooting attack targeting Jewish civilians at Bondi Beach in Australia, including descriptions of the attacker, context, and media coverage. The material is intended to glorify violence and manipulate public perception, serving the group’s propaganda objectives.
Significantly, the magazine contains detailed instructions for creating improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Step-by-step guides include assembling basic components such as batteries, wires, and switches, preparing electrical circuits, and constructing explosive charges. Illustrative images accompany each stage, making the content a serious security risk.
The magazine also encourages so-called “lone wolf” attacks using simple and readily accessible methods, including shootings, stabbings, and vehicle ramming. It features photographs of previous attacks to inspire similar acts, demonstrating AQAP’s continued reliance on decentralized, self-directed actors to carry out violence.
The publication concludes with motivational messaging that frames violent action as a personal duty in AQAP’s extremist worldview. Experts emphasize that such content is designed to radicalize individuals and provide practical guidance for committing acts of terrorism.
Authorities worldwide urge vigilance and discourage the dissemination of such materials. Law enforcement agencies continue to monitor AQAP and other extremist media outlets to prevent attacks inspired by propaganda content. The public is encouraged to report suspicious activity related to terrorism to relevant authorities.
