In a blatant violation of international law and basic human rights, the Afghan Taliban launched a mortar attack targeting civilian areas in Mahmand District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The attack resulted in injuries to three individuals, including two children.
According to local sources, the mortar shells struck the residence of Zahir Shah, causing injuries to his wife, 18-year-old son Amjad, and 14-year-old daughter Rehbana. The injured were immediately transported to the District Headquarters Hospital, where their condition remains critical.
This incident underscores the continuing threat posed by Afghan Taliban and affiliated terrorist elements, who deliberately target innocent civilians to further their violent agendas. Such attacks not only breach international humanitarian law but also pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
In contrast, Pakistan’s security operations along the border have always been conducted with restraint, targeting only military objectives and avoiding harm to Afghan civilians or civilian infrastructure. Pakistani authorities have consistently maintained a policy of defensive action and responsible engagement, ensuring that operations are precise and proportional.
Pakistan remains committed to peace, stability, and mutually respectful relations in the region, but its resolve to protect its borders and citizens remains unwavering. The latest attack on innocent civilians by the Afghan Taliban highlights the urgent need for international attention and condemnation of actions that endanger non-combatants.
Pakistan calls upon all stakeholders to prioritize human life and regional stability, while reaffirming that the protection of its citizens will remain a top national priority.
