India’s War Hysteria Pushing Region Toward Mutual Destruction, Warns DG ISPR

Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned that India’s escalating war hysteria is creating a perilous environment that could lead to mutual destruction, stressing that peace in the region is impossible without India abandoning its extremist political mindset.

In a wide-ranging interview with Al Jazeera, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) said, “India’s obsession with war is equivalent to playing with fire. The very notion of conflict between two nuclear-armed neighbours is not only dangerous but utterly ludicrous.” He maintained that peace will only return when India renounces its aggressive posture and learns to coexist based on mutual respect and regional stability.

General Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan has consistently acted with restraint and responsibility. “We have always prevented tensions from spiraling. When a ceasefire is agreed upon, both sides are expected to hold fire. Yet India has repeatedly shown blatant aggression, to which we responded with resolve — and we remain ready. Should India provoke us again, our response will be swifter and more severe,” he cautioned.

The DG ISPR strongly criticized India’s domestic policies rooted in extremism, stating that the Indian ruling elite is committed to the systematic oppression of Muslims and other minorities. “Hindutva ideology naturally leads to violence and discrimination. Christians, Sikhs, and lower-caste Hindus also face persecution under this regime. Such oppression inevitably provokes a reaction — a truth India refuses to accept.”

He further stated that as long as India continues to ignore its internal crises, peace will remain a distant dream. “Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute that remains unresolved. Indians must embrace self-respect and give up their dependence on falsehoods and aggression,” he added.

Dismissing recent threats from India regarding water, General Chaudhry responded bluntly, “Only a madman can believe that Pakistan’s water can be blocked. The reality is that six rivers originate from Kashmir. If Kashmir were to join Pakistan tomorrow, all those rivers would belong to us.”

On Pakistan’s strategic relations with China, he said, “For decades, Pakistan and China have worked together across various sectors. Along with other responsible nations, we are committed to global peace. Just as Pakistan has fought its battles with dignity and without foreign dependence, India too must show self-respect and stop outsourcing its fights.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry’s remarks reflect Pakistan’s firm stance on sovereignty, justice, and peace, while highlighting the growing regional concern over India’s escalating belligerence.
