India Weaponizing Water; Nuclear Conflict Will Engulf Entire Region, Warns Bilawal Bhutto

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party and head of the government’s high-level diplomatic committee, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has issued a stern warning that India is weaponizing water in blatant violation of international treaties, cautioning that any nuclear conflict between atomic powers would have catastrophic consequences beyond Pakistan’s borders.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, Bilawal condemned New Delhi’s provocative actions and propaganda, declaring that water is being used as a strategic weapon by India in defiance of the Indus Waters Treaty. “Are future generations destined to fight wars over water? This is not just alarming — it is unacceptable,” he said.

He cautioned that a war between nuclear-armed states would not be limited to one country. “The fallout of such a conflict will not stop at Pakistan’s borders — it will destabilize the entire region and beyond,” he warned.

Bilawal said Pakistan continues to advocate for peace and has launched a global diplomatic campaign to counter Indian disinformation. “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rightly demanded a neutral and transparent investigation into India’s baseless allegations. The Indian narrative lacks credibility and stands exposed,” he added.

The PPP chairman, who also leads the recently constituted diplomatic response committee, accused India of systematically breaching the Indus Waters Treaty and called for urgent international attention to resolve the dispute. “We cannot allow water to become a trigger for future wars. The responsibility lies with us — and with future generations — to fight for a stable and secure future,” he concluded.

Bilawal reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, urging the global community to recognize the gravity of the threat posed by India’s water aggression and to act before it is too late.
