Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has warned that the threat from India has not yet subsided, and that key global powers are actively working to prevent escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
In a recent interview, Asif stated, “India knows well that any misadventure will be met with a fitting response.” He revealed that Pakistan had offered to conduct an investigation into the Pulwama-like incident, demonstrating its willingness to cooperate in the interest of regional stability.
“If we hadn’t made the offer, the international community might have responded with harsh rhetoric,” he added.
Khawaja Asif proposed the formation of an international commission comprising 4 to 5 countries to conduct the investigation and present an unbiased report.
Reiterating his concerns, the defence minister said the threat from India remains present, but acknowledged efforts by major world powers to prevent the Pakistan-India conflict from escalating further.
