Security sources have raised serious concerns over a new alleged plot by Indian intelligence agencies aimed at discrediting Pakistan on the international stage. According to insiders, after the recent exposure of the Pahalgam false flag operation, Indian agencies are now crafting another deceptive narrative involving illegally detained Pakistani citizens.
Sources claim that since 2003, at least 56 innocent Pakistanis have been unlawfully imprisoned by Indian authorities. These detainees, many of whom have been held incommunicado for years, are reportedly being subjected to brutal torture and could be forced to make false confessions or be used in staged operations posing as terrorists.
Notably, two such detainees — Zia Mustafa (detained in 2003) and Muhammad Ali Hassan (detained in 2006) — were reportedly killed in fake encounters in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Those still in custody include Muhammad Riaz (detained since 1999), Abdullah Maki of Multan (since 2002), Tafheem Akmal Hashmi, Zafar Iqbal, Naveed Ahmad, Muhammad Waqar, and Muhammad Yaqoob, among others. Some of them have been held for over two decades without due process.
Analysts warn that Indian agencies may attempt to stage another Balakot-style narrative — fabricating claims about terrorist camps — as a pretext for military action.
Pakistan’s security forces, however, have reiterated that any hostile move will be met with a swift and strong response.
