“India Crosses the Line Too”: U.S. Security Analyst Christine Fair Slams Indian Narrative, Defends Pakistan

Renowned American security expert and political analyst Christine Fair has once again stirred debate by calling out India’s double standards on regional conflicts, particularly in Kashmir and Balochistan, while defending Pakistan’s perspective.

Speaking during a televised program, Fair addressed the long-standing blame game between India and Pakistan. She noted that while India consistently accuses Pakistan of sponsoring unrest in Indian-administered Kashmir, Pakistanis also strongly believe that India is involved in fuelling terrorism in Balochistan.

“Just as Indians think Pakistan is behind everything in Kashmir, Pakistanis also believe India is behind many attacks in Balochistan, and honestly, they’re not wrong to think that,” Fair stated.

She criticised Indian audiences for being unwilling to hear uncomfortable truths, saying, “Indian viewers don’t want to talk about this. They don’t even want to consider that sometimes India does cross the line.”

Christine Fair cited the work of Indian journalist and scholar Avinash Paliwal, specifically referencing his book My Enemy’s Enemy, which presents evidence of Indian involvement in Balochistan—a claim often denied by Indian authorities but widely accepted in Pakistani strategic circles.

No Stranger to Controversy

Christine Fair is well known for her blunt assessments and nonpartisan criticism of both South Asian nations. In a previous interview, she dismissed India’s claim of shooting down several Pakistani aircraft during the 2019 Pulwama-Balakot standoff as “nonsense.”

When asked by an Indian journalist about the Indian Air Force’s claim of downing multiple Pakistani jets, she bluntly responded:

“I see that as complete nonsense. There’s no verified evidence to back that claim.”

Reactions and Significance

Fair’s comments have sparked debate on social media and among policy circles, especially at a time when India-Pakistan relations remain tense and narratives from both sides often go unchallenged in national media.

Observers say her remarks once again highlight the need for balanced discourse on sensitive geopolitical issues and expose the selective accountability often seen in nationalistic narratives.
