In a glaring act of media censorship, India’s leading English-language daily The Hindu has deleted a report confirming the destruction of three Indian Air Force jets in a retaliatory strike by the Pakistan Air Force in occupied Kashmir, raising serious questions about press freedom and the Modi government’s tightening grip on information.
The report, initially published on The Hindu’s website, detailed the loss of Indian aircraft during Pakistan’s precise counteroffensive following India’s unprovoked airstrikes on civilian areas across the Line of Control. However, within hours, the story was first made inaccessible and then entirely erased from the site. A tweet sharing the same news on platform X (formerly Twitter) was also quietly deleted—signaling yet another instance of India’s mainstream media succumbing to state pressure.
Under the Modi regime, India’s independent journalism is rapidly vanishing, replaced by a docile and obedient media landscape widely referred to as “Godi media.” Once-respected publications like The Hindu appear to have joined the ranks of this propaganda machinery, prioritizing government narratives over factual reporting.
Following the deadly attack on Pahalgam, nearly every Indian news outlet has aligned itself with the government’s version of events, abandoning journalistic integrity in favor of nationalist fervor. While India aggressively pushed its military agenda, it silenced internal admissions of defeat—most notably, the verified loss of five warplanes, including three state-of-the-art Rafale jets, shot down by the Pakistan Air Force.
Unlike India’s suppressed coverage, Pakistani media has freely reported the details of the Indian assault and the robust response it provoked. The spokesperson for Pakistan’s armed forces also addressed a press conference, disclosing both the civilian casualties caused by Indian attacks and the significant damage inflicted on Indian military infrastructure in return.
India’s cowardly midnight strike on civilian targets inside Pakistan was met with a crushing response. Pakistani fighter jets not only downed five Indian aircraft but also destroyed a brigade headquarters and several key military posts. In a stunning development, Indian troops at the Chura Complex on the Line of Control were seen waving white flags in surrender, acknowledging the scale of their losses.
Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed this surrender during a press briefing, stating, “The Indian army has raised white flags, accepting defeat. Pakistan’s armed forces delivered a resolute and punishing response, destroying enemy posts and downing five of their aircraft along with one drone.”
