Inspector General (IG) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Ahmed Hamid, visited the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Timergara today, where he reaffirmed the commitment of the police to safeguarding the lives and property of the public. During his visit, IG Hamid strongly condemned recent attacks on police check posts in the region, which he described as clear attempts by terrorists to destabilise security.
Addressing the media during the visit, IG Hamid said, “Ensuring the safety and security of the people is the top priority for the police. The recent attacks, including one on the Lajbok Police Check post, have only reinforced the determination of our forces. The enemy’s terrorist designs were clearly evident during these incidents.”
The IG highlighted that, in the last 24 hours, police forces had successfully repelled 13 terrorist attacks, neutralising nine, although one police officer was martyred and another injured in the attack on the Lajbok Police Check-post.
This incident follows a series of targeted attacks against law enforcement officers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with five police personnel having already been martyred last night. Despite the continuous threat, IG Hamid vowed that the police would remain steadfast in their efforts to restore peace and protect the public from harm.
“We will not let the sacrifices of our officers go in vain. The protection of the public and the safety of our fellow police personnel will always remain our foremost responsibility,” he added.
IG Hamid also extended his condolences to the families of the martyrs and assured them of the full support of the police department. He emphasized that the fight against terrorism was ongoing, and each attack would only make the forces more resolute in their mission to bring peace to the region.
