IED Strike Targets Police Vehicle in Lakki Marwat

A targeted improvised explosive device (IED) attack struck a police vehicle in the jurisdiction of Police Station Saddar, near Darra Tang Bridge, injuring Station House Officer (SHO) Raziq Khan and two other police personnel, police officials confirmed on Monday.

According to police sources, the explosive device had been planted alongside the Darra Tang Bridge and detonated as the police vehicle passed through the area. The injured officers were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility, where they are reported to be receiving treatment.

Authorities disclosed that the route targeted in the attack was part of a routine movement corridor for senior police officials. The District Police Officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat was on an inspection tour of police check posts at the time and was also expected to pass through the same route, highlighting the serious security implications of the attack.

Security officials further noted that a lawyer was abducted by unknown armed individuals from the same location a day earlier, raising concerns over a deliberate attempt to destabilize the area through coordinated criminal and terrorist activity.

Following the incident, law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a comprehensive search and investigation operation to identify those responsible. Bomb disposal and forensic teams were deployed to collect evidence from the blast site.

Senior police officials strongly condemned the attack and reaffirmed that such cowardly acts will not deter law enforcement agencies from carrying out their duties. Additional security measures have been put in place across the district, particularly along sensitive routes and installations.

An investigation is underway, and authorities have assured that those involved in the attack will be tracked down and brought to justice.
