A potential tragedy was narrowly averted on Saturday after security forces successfully defused a large improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the Nasran to Tajori road in the Tank district. According to details, a tip-off regarding the presence of an explosive device prompted an immediate response by Tank police, the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU), and military officials. Upon reaching the site, the joint team discovered a locally manufactured IED weighing approximately 35 to 40 kilograms, which posed a serious threat to lives and property.
Acting swiftly, Tank police, along with security forces and the BDU, launched a meticulous operation while ensuring all standard safety protocols were observed. Under the direct supervision of the District Police Officer (DPO) Tank and Pakistan Army officers, the team exhibited high-level professionalism and successfully neutralized the explosive device.
Officials confirmed that the timely operation prevented a potentially devastating incident, and the area was later declared clear after a thorough sweep.
