A security team conducting a search and clearance operation in Karak district came under attack when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated along the Darga Shaheedan Road, according to official sources.
The explosion occurred during an ongoing operation aimed at clearing the area of terrorists and their facilitators.
Sources said one security official sustained injuries in the blast, while a security vehicle suffered partial damage.
Despite the attack, the operation continued in the area, with security personnel expanding the search and clearance effort to trace those responsible for planting the explosive device.
Officials said several suspects were taken into custody during the operation and shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
Following the incident, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a detailed evidence-collection process. Investigators are examining the blast site to determine the nature of the device and identify the terrorist network behind the attack.
Security sources described the incident as part of a continuing terrorist campaign aimed at disrupting counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Additional search activities remain underway, while efforts are continuing to apprehend the terrorists and facilitators involved.
Officials reiterated that operations against terrorists would continue and that attempts to target security personnel would not deter ongoing counter-terrorism efforts across the region.
