IED Attack in Lakki Marwat Leaves Six Police and ATS Officers Martyred, One Injured

In a devastating attack on law enforcement personnel, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a police vehicle in the Shadi Khel Bettani area of Lakki Marwat, killing six personnel, including the Station House Officer (SHO) and three Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) members. One officer, identified as Insaaf-ud-Din, sustained injuries and was immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The explosion occurred near the Rasool Khel check post, along the main road connecting Shadi Khel to Masti Khel Bettani, while the police mobile unit was on routine patrol. Among the fatalities were SHO Sadar Azam, driver Shah Bahram, and three other police and ATS personnel.

Following the attack, police and security forces cordoned off the area to prevent further incidents and launched a search and clearance operation to locate any additional explosives or suspects involved in the attack.

Security officials described the attack as a deliberate and targeted attempt to harm law enforcement personnel, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by police and counterterrorism forces in the region. The authorities have vowed to pursue the perpetrators and ensure justice for the fallen officers.

This tragic incident marks one of the deadliest attacks in Lakki Marwat in recent months and underscores the persistent threats to law enforcement personnel in areas prone to militant activity.
