Pakistani security forces carried out a precision operation near Khumrang area of South Waziristan neutralising Qari Hussain, a senior khariji commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), security officials said.
According to the officials, Hussain; described as one of the group’s most wanted “Khariji” commanders, was eliminated after he recently murdered a young villager on suspicion of sharing information with the state and threatened the victim’s mother to keep silent.
Investigators said the militant had earlier released a video warning all local tribes against cooperating with the government and even naming a prominent tribal elder he vowed to make “an example.”
Authorities hailed the joint effort of security forces and local tribes, saying the operation turned Hussain’s own threats into his downfall. “By the grace of God and the unity of our people, the very man who promised to create fear has himself become a cautionary tale,” one security source said.
