A high-level security review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shehbaz Sharif, focusing on the regional security environment and Pakistan’s national security posture.
The meeting conducted a detailed assessment of the security situation across the region, with special attention to developments in Afghanistan and their potential implications for Pakistan.
Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability was also discussed, along with various policy and operational measures aimed at strengthening security coordination in the broader region.
The internal security situation of the country and existing security arrangements were reviewed during the briefing sessions. Officials were updated on ongoing preparedness measures to address potential threats.
At the direction of the Prime Minister, the meeting also examined arrangements for the safe evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided detailed briefings regarding mechanisms being developed to ensure the secure return of Pakistani nationals.
Officials informed the meeting that evacuation operations are being facilitated through Azerbaijan, which is being used as a transit route for the safe movement of Pakistani citizens from Iran.
The session was attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, along with federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahsan Iqbal, Ataullah Tarar, and Ali Pervaiz Malik, along with senior civil and military officials.
The discussion reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability while prioritizing the safety of its citizens and maintaining vigilance over evolving security challenges in the neighborhood.
