A significant peace and development jirga was convened in Peshawar today under the chairmanship of Major General Imran Rao, Inspector General of the Frontier Corps (FC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North. The gathering brought together local elders, community leaders, and key administrative officials to discuss ways to reinforce peace, stability, and development in the Tirah region.
The jirga saw active participation from a large number of Tirah’s local elders and notable figures, reflecting the community’s commitment to sustaining peace and addressing the challenges faced by residents. Senior government officials, including Commissioner Peshawar, Deputy Commissioner Khyber, and DPO Khyber, also attended, underscoring the high-level coordination between civil administration and security forces.
The primary objective of the jirga was to strengthen peace and stability in Tirah and to collaboratively identify solutions to the issues affecting the local population. Speaking at the event, Major General Imran Rao acknowledged the sacrifices made by the people and elders of Tirah in maintaining regional peace, stating, “The residents and community leaders of Tirah have shown remarkable dedication and made significant sacrifices for the cause of peace, which are deeply appreciated.”
A key outcome of the jirga was the decision to share detailed plans for development projects and financial grants with Tirah’s elders to ensure these initiatives are structured effectively and address local priorities.
In his address, Commissioner Peshawar praised the efforts of Tirah’s residents and elders, describing their commitment to peace as exemplary. He assured that the civil administration would provide relief packages for displaced individuals and ensure timely disbursement of funds to support ongoing development projects.
The jirga also provided a platform for community leaders to raise concerns regarding the politicization of local issues, highlighting that certain political parties have attempted to exploit these matters for political gain and tarnish the reputation of the Tirah committee elders. Officials present emphasized that all concerns raised by the elders would be addressed seriously, and that the local population would be involved in planning and implementing every development project in the region.
The event reflects a coordinated approach between security forces, civil administration, and local leadership, emphasizing transparency, community engagement, and shared responsibility in promoting lasting peace and sustainable development in Tirah.
