A suspected suicide attack targeted the inter-provincial Dajal check post connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, resulting in the martyrdom of two police personnel and injuries to several others.
According to initial reports, the attacker detonated explosives near the security barrier while officers were performing routine inspection duties. The intensity of the blast caused significant disruption in the surrounding area, triggering panic among commuters and residents nearby.
Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies swiftly reached the scene, cordoned off the area, and shifted the injured to nearby medical facilities. Hospital sources indicate that some of the wounded are in critical condition.
Following the attack, authorities declared high alert across Bhakkar district, intensifying security measures at all entry and exit points. Additional police contingents have been deployed, and a search operation has been launched to determine whether the attacker had facilitators or accomplices.
Security officials have stated that investigations are underway to establish the identity of the bomber and the network behind the attack. The incident once again underscores the persistent threat faced by frontline security personnel at inter-provincial security checkpoints.
