Karachi: Pakistani authorities have placed all major ports on high alert, suspending the movement of small and large boats as part of heightened maritime security measures.

According to port sources, an immediate ban has been imposed on all fishing vessels and private boats heading to sea. All previously issued permits have been revoked with immediate effect.

“Hundreds of fishing boats and small vessels have been restricted from venturing into the sea,” a port official confirmed, adding that commercial shipping operations will continue without disruption.

The decision has been taken as a proactive step to tighten maritime security by limiting movement in and around coastal areas, sources said.

While no specific threat has been disclosed publicly, the move suggests increased vigilance amid regional or domestic security assessments.

Authorities have advised all maritime operators to comply with the new restrictions until further notice.
