The district administration, local communities, and tribal elders are coordinating a temporary relocation of residents in Tirah to ensure safety, protect civilians, and facilitate targeted security operations. Recent misinformation and misleading propaganda regarding the relocation and security activities are inaccurate and do not reflect the ground realities.
The relocation is voluntary and carried out with the consent of the residents, many of whom have endured years of terrorism, narcotics, and criminal activities instigated by Khawarij militant elements. The primary goal is to provide residents with a safer and more secure environment while enabling security forces to carry out intelligence-based, targeted operations against terrorists.
Authorities emphasize that there is no plan for a large-scale military offensive. The temporary relocation is purely a protective measure to minimize civilian exposure to potential crossfire and to prevent unnecessary casualties. Past experiences, such as the relocation in Bajaur, have demonstrated that such measures successfully cleared areas of terrorist elements while ensuring the honorable return of residents once conditions stabilized.
To support the affected families, over PKR 5 billion has been allocated for logistics, shelters, and essential services. These efforts include coordination with local leaders, community representatives, and security personnel to guarantee a smooth transition and maintain access to basic needs, education, and healthcare.
Security authorities also note that Khawarij militants have exploited civilian cover, including the use of drones and populated areas, to attack residents and security personnel. The relocation will reduce such risks and allow security forces to operate with greater precision and efficiency.
Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated:
“The safety and well-being of residents are our top priorities. By working hand-in-hand with communities and elders, we aim to ensure security, stability, and the eventual safe return of families to their homes.”
The administration calls on media, community leaders, and the public to rely on verified information and not propagate false narratives that may cause unnecessary fear or confusion. The coordinated approach in Tirah represents a model for protecting civilians while neutralizing extremist threats, reaffirming the government’s commitment to peace and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
