Security forces carried out a successful intelligence-based operation (IBO) against Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists in the Shagai area within the jurisdiction of Gambila police station in Lakki Marwat, killing six militants and recovering a significant cache of weapons and explosives.
Security officials said the operation was launched after credible intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the area. As security personnel moved to cordon off the suspected hideout, the terrorists opened fire upon seeing the advancing forces.
Security forces responded immediately under the right of self-defense, triggering a fierce exchange of fire that resulted in the elimination of six Khariji terrorists, while several others managed to escape.
Authorities stated that the slain militants were considered key elements spreading fear and intimidation in the region and were believed to be involved in militant activities across southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the clearance operation, security forces recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, including four Kalashnikov rifles, two 9mm pistols, eight hand grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED), multiple magazines, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Officials said the recovered weapons suggest the militants were well-armed and potentially planning further attacks in the district.
Following the operation, the area was sealed and a search operation launched to locate any remaining militants who may have fled during the exchange of fire. Security officials reiterated that intelligence-based operations will continue across the region to dismantle terrorist networks and ensure lasting peace.
