Bannu: The Hathi Khel tribe convened an important jirga today to address the growing presence of terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij (the banned TTP), particularly the group led by Naseer alias Geedar.
According to reports, the terrorists received reinforcement from the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Taj Meidani group via Ghora Baka Khel, after which they positioned themselves around the Bargatu Dam area.
Sensing the seriousness of the situation, a heavy police contingent swiftly reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and brought the tense situation under effective control, preventing further escalation.
The tribal jirga, after extensive deliberations, announced the following unanimous decisions:
Naseer alias Geedar, a resident of Dogar Umarzai, and his associates must vacate the Bargatu Dam and adjoining areas by 10 October 2025.
Failure to comply with the deadline will result in collective armed action by the Hathi Khel tribe.
DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan praised the unity and resolve of tribal elders for peace, stressing that police stand firmly with the people. He added that victory against terrorism lies in the joint struggle of the public and police, assuring full security and legal support in this regard.
