The federal government has approved the promotion of General Syed Asim Munir, recipient of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), to the prestigious rank of Field Marshal in recognition of his exceptional leadership and strategic success in Operation Bunyān al-Mursoos.
Key decisions were made during a federal cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
According to the official statement, the cabinet unanimously approved General Asim Munir’s promotion to Field Marshal for his outstanding military strategy and decisive defeat of the enemy during the operation.
Additionally, the cabinet agreed to extend the services of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Babar Sidhu following the completion of his tenure, acknowledging his continued value to national defence.
