A noticeable shift in global public opinion has emerged following Pakistan’s effective diplomatic role in facilitating the US–Iran ceasefire, with widespread appreciation pouring in from across the world, including from Indian users.
According to data shared by Ipsos, 71 percent of social media users expressed appreciation and gratitude for Pakistan’s mediation role after the ceasefire announcement on April 8.
The analysis indicates that the highest volume of positive sentiment originated from Pakistan, followed by users from the United States and India, where many acknowledged Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts in bringing the two sides closer.
Interestingly, a segment of Indian social media users also voiced frustration over their country’s absence from the mediation process, with criticism directed at their own government.
The shift becomes more significant when compared to pre-ceasefire sentiment. Before the announcement, around 91 percent of users had expressed dissatisfaction or skepticism regarding Pakistan’s role in the mediation process.
Perception Turnaround in Digital Space
The rapid change in online sentiment highlights how diplomatic outcomes can reshape narratives in real time. Pakistan’s role, once questioned, is now being recognized as a key factor in de-escalation efforts, signaling a broader recalibration of its image on the global stage.
