In a powerful display of global solidarity, Afghan protesters are set to stage demonstrations in 14 cities worldwide this weekend, from Thursday to Sunday, to stand with women in Afghanistan. The rallies, organised in response to the ongoing oppression by the Taliban, will unfold in 10 countries, including Germany, Norway, the United States, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, and more.

This wave of protests coincides with the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan. The organisers have called for people in various countries to gather at designated locations to raise their voices against the Taliban’s draconian policies, particularly those targeting women.

Cities that will witness these demonstrations include Vienna, Darmstadt, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Oslo, Washington, Geneva, Amsterdam, Madrid, Toronto, São Paulo, and Paris. The four-day protests, running from August 14 to 18, will demand an end to the Taliban’s oppressive regime and its restrictions on women’s rights in Afghanistan.
