Frustrated Khawarij Open Fire on Civilians After Failed Attack in South Waziristan

South Waziristan, Khawarij in Frustration, Fitna al-Khawarij, Security Forces, Civilian target

In yet another act of cowardice, terrorists belonging to the banned TTP known as Fitna al-Khawarij opened fire on civilians in a busy market in Azam Warsak, South Waziristan, leaving three innocent people injured.

According to security sources, the incident occurred after khawarij launched an unsuccessful assault on a security check post in the region. Foiled by alert security forces, the attackers retreated, only to vent their frustration by targeting unarmed civilians in the marketplace.

The injured have been identified as Noor Shah Jahan, Muhammad Hanif, and Jumma Khan. All three were immediately rushed to the local headquarters hospital for medical treatment. Due to the critical nature of their injuries, Noor Shah Jahan and Muhammad Hanif were later referred to Dera Ismail Khan for advanced care.

Security officials condemned the attack, calling it a desperate and cowardly response to the khawarij’s recent setbacks. “Targeting innocent civilians is a clear sign of their defeat on the battlefield,” a source said.

In recent weeks, security forces have delivered significant blows to Fitna al-Khawarij in various parts of South Waziristan, disrupting their networks and eliminating key operatives. The group’s attempt to retaliate by harming civilians highlights both their frustration and disregard for human life.

Efforts to stabilise the region continue, with intensified operations expected in areas where khawarij remain active.
