Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said the country will make no compromise on its security, sovereignty, and the protection of its citizens, while urging the Afghan Taliban regime to take decisive action against militant groups operating from Afghan territory.

The statement was submitted as a written response in the Senate regarding Pakistan’s policy toward Afghanistan.

According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan seeks a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan as a neighboring country and has pursued a policy of sustained engagement with the Afghan Taliban regime since it came to power in August 2021.

However, the ministry stressed that Pakistan expects Afghanistan to address Islamabad’s legitimate security concerns, particularly by taking concrete action against militant organizations including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) operating from Afghan soil.

The written reply noted with concern that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have not received a positive response from the Afghan authorities.

According to the ministry, militant activity originating from Afghanistan has increased since the Taliban takeover in August 2021. The response stated that around 5,300 terrorist attacks were launched from Afghanistan last year, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths.

The Foreign Office warned that terrorist groups based in Afghanistan pose a threat not only to Pakistan but also to other neighboring countries and regional stability.

The ministry also referred to developments in October 2025, stating that elements linked to the Afghan regime facilitated aggression against Pakistan from TTP hideouts.

Pakistan maintains that its operations are strictly targeted against terrorist infrastructure and are conducted to neutralize militant threats.

The Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to diplomacy and does not seek further escalation, emphasizing that constructive engagement with the Afghan Taliban remains Islamabad’s preferred approach.

At the same time, the ministry made it clear that Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, and the safety of its people remain non-negotiable.
