From IED Blasts to Target Killings — Terror Trail Ends in Tank

Terror, Tank Operation, TTP Terrorists Eliminated

Two highly wanted terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in a successful intelligence-based operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Tank district, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out in Sheikh Utar, within the jurisdiction of Gomal police station, following credible and actionable intelligence regarding the presence of high-value militant targets in the area.

According to CTD officials, the operation aimed to neutralize immediate threats posed by terrorists and ensure the safety of local residents. As the CTD team moved in, the militants opened fire, triggering an intense exchange that lasted nearly 40 minutes.

After the firing ceased, a search operation was conducted, during which two notorious militants linked to the TTP Mushtaq group, identified as Imdadullah and Tauqeer, were found dead.

Security officials recovered two Kalashnikov rifles along with six magazines, ammunition, and two bandoliers from the scene.

Authorities stated that the killed terrorists were involved in multiple high-profile attacks, including the Aslam IED blast in which five police personnel were martyred. They were also implicated in the hostage-taking of police officials at Government Girls Middle School Roori, and an IED attack on a police van in Kanori Patan that resulted in the martyrdom of two personnel.

In addition, the militants were involved in attacks on police mobiles along Dera-Tank Road, an assault on a judges’ convoy on Tank Road, the targeted killing of Head Constable Aziz, and the abduction and martyrdom of Constable Rehan.

Officials described the operation as a significant blow to the militant network operating in the region, disrupting its capabilities and weakening its operational structure.

Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Additional IG CTD commended the Special Weapons and Tactics teams for the successful operation, reaffirming that security forces remain vigilant and committed to eliminating terrorists and ensuring public safety through continued counterterrorism actions.
