Security Forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan District on 23 February 2026, following reports regarding the presence of Khwarij linked to what officials described as an Indian proxy, Fitna al-Khwarij.

According to security sources, troops effectively engaged the militant hideout during the operation. After an intense exchange of fire, four Khwarij were killed.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were said to be actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.

Operation Continues Under Azm-e-Istehkam

A sanitization operation is currently underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored Khwarij in the vicinity.

Officials reiterated that the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace. Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies have reaffirmed their resolve to dismantle foreign-sponsored terrorist networks and eradicate militancy from the country.

Authorities maintained that operations would persist until the threat of externally backed terrorism is completely neutralized.
